Labor Day parade in New York: Thousands of workers came together to advocate for their fair treatment

The 2024 Labor Day parade took place in New York on Saturday September 2024 with thousands of people walking down the 5th avenue.

The theme of this year “all workers, many voices, one fight,” was what it meant as thousands of people representing more than 200 unions came together, marching, chanting, and dancing with a common goal: advocating for their fair treatment.

“Labor built New York. We’re fighting hard for labor. Labor keeps the middle class; it helps people climb ladders up into the middle class. I love labor,” Sen. Chuck Schumer said.

Gov. Kathy Hochul and Mayor Eric Adams were also among those attending the parade that started from 44th street and 5th avenue to 70th street down 5th avenue.

Some unions have expressed during the parade their political preference as America is elected in November 2024 its 47th president. Here what was seen in some signs: “Protect democracy vote Harris.”

The parade itself was a success as it confirmed what workers have said: “New York is unions city.”
