The 6th conference of Guinean Succeeding in America (GSA) took place on October 26, 2024, in Manhattan where hundreds of people converged to share a common goal.
They were students, entrepreneurs, distinguished professionals, and government officials who came together to learn from each other’s experience, to inspire each other, and to network with each other.

There were several panelists from different backgrounds, who shared with the attendees their professional and entrepreneurial experiences and expertise. Mamadou Bah, Mohammed Diallo, Maimouna Diakhaby, Umaru Barrie, Abdoulaye Barry, were among the panelists who shared their professional and entrepreneurial experiences with the audience in large majority students.

Mr. Djiba Millimono was one the speaker who came directly from Guinea for the conference. He has a journalist background. However, Mr. Djiba has a passion which is entrepreneurship. He creates then “Le Grand Concours” or “The Big Competition” in English. “Le grand Concours,” a noble company has been financing several agricultural and livestock projects in Guinea. According to Mr. Djiba, 53 young people have received financial support from “Le Grand Concours” and then created their own business that hire other young Guineans.
Gassim Bah is the vice president and regional banking manager at Wells Fargo. He is, like other panelists, an illustration of success. From a dishwasher to a manager in one of the biggest banks in America, is just a success, a prowess.
The theme of the 6th conference was “Rebuilding momentum for grow.” For Abdourahamane Diallo the founder of the Guinean succeeding in America, the momentum was a little bit faded away due to covid – 19. “This is the first time since covid – 19 we came together in person,” he said. “There are 350 or 400 people here today and everybody has paid to attend the conference, this is a momentum.”
For Laye Oumar Koulibaly the president of the GSA, the GSA is not only an organization but also a family. “Together we create friendship,” he said.
For Abdourahamane Diallo, GSA is not just an organization that bring together only Guineans. Everyone can be a member of the organization. “If you are passionate about helping people, if you are selfless person and you just want to help people and to contribute to the community, GSA is your place,” he said. “GSA is a meritocratic organization, we don’t look at your ethnicity, your race or religion.”
