The New York City African Council endorsed Mayor Eric Adams as next New York city’s mayor

The New York City African Council has endorsed on August 24, 2025, Mayor Eric Adams for mayor for the general election in November 2025. Some African leaders as well as African diaspora community members have showed up at the meeting held at Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard to support the incumbent mayor who is campaigning for a four more years re – election.

These leaders have explained the reason they want Mayor Eric Adams to be again the Mayor of New York City which is one of the biggest City of the United States. They enumerated a list of his accomplishments such as public safety, affordable housing, job creation, universal education for 3 and half year’s children, and his commitment to African diaspora.

“That is why we want him to be our mayor for another 4 years,” they said.

“Four years ago, I stated we will deal with crime in the city, problem solved, we will build housing, problem solved, we will decreased unemployment, problem solved, we will decrease crime in NYCHA, problem solved …  why not four more years,” said Mayor Adams to echo the African leaders.

The mayor also said he is the one who can understand the pain of African diaspora because “I am you,” he stated and gave a list of jobs he has done such as dishwasher, cook, mechanic, police officer, sergeant, lieutenant, capitaine, Borough president, and mayor.

“We don’t need an experiment we need experience,” said the mayor who called for unity.

“This is one city, we must come together, we are going to need each other after election day.”
